Ask Jaysec

THE ULTIMATE HELP DESK!

Unlike the usual "Frequently Asked Questions" or keyword searches, Ask Jaysec uses Q to allow a user to ask a question in his or her own words.

This site allows intake staff and billers working in the Durable Medical Equipment industry to get accurate, up-to-date answers to questions important to Medicare billing.

For example, look at the following query:

Since the Q engine is able to understand the meaning of questions, many questions might trigger this page, e.g. "What sorts of canes are there?" "Show me a list of various canes!" "Tell me about an offset cane." etc.

Similarly, one could answer a variety of expressions like these:

  • How fat does a guy have to be to get a super sized wheelchair?
  • Are bariatric wheelchairs available?
  • Are their weight limitations for various kinds of wheelchairs?
  • How heavy can a person be? (asked in the wheelchair category), etc.

The point of Ask Jaysec is that relatively inexperienced intake staff can ask questions in their own words which the knowledge base turns into expert questions. A question about a "bi-pap" (a brand name like Jello or Kleenex) goes to the information about "respiratory assist device, bi-level capability."

This kind of web tool can be used with any web site where uniformed users are trying to find exact information. An FAA website might allow someone who asks very colloquially, "Do you ever get too old to fly?" to go to the "Age limitations for pilots" of the FAA regulations. It would be the ultimate Help Desk Interface!
